FiveM Multicharacter Script for QBCore, Qbox & ESX

The multicharacter screen is the first thing every player sees after connecting and the last thing they see before entering the city. It sets the tone of your server, holds your branding and decides where each character spawns. When it breaks, nobody can play.

This guide covers what to expect from a FiveM multicharacter script on QBCore, Qbox and ESX, how Rarx Multicharacter handles each step from loading screen to spawn, the framework-specific setup it needs and the questions owners ask before switching.

Buyer's checklist

What a good FiveM multicharacter script should do

A checklist for the resource that controls the first minute of every session.

  1. The whole entry flow, in order

Loading screen, main menu, character selection, spawn and a first vehicle for new characters are one journey. Rarx Multicharacter covers all of it in a single resource, and the built-in loading screen can be disabled if you prefer another one.

  2. Your branding, not a template

Logo, server name, slogan, colors, rules, controls, custom sections and external links. The main menu here also has a live stats bar with players online, uptime and staff online.

  3. Slots you control per player

Total slots, slots unlocked by default and the ability for staff to grant more to a specific player. Name filters, birth year limits and a configurable nationality list keep new characters consistent.

  4. Spawn where it makes sense

Last location, default spawn points or an apartment or house through a supported housing resource. A random routing bucket while players choose keeps them from overlapping.

  5. It uses your appearance resource

Characters should be shown with the clothing system you already run. The appearance resource is detected at startup, and Rarx Clothing, illenium-appearance, fivem-appearance and others are supported.

  6. Admin tools with a safety net

Granting slots, disabling characters with a reason and character kills belong in a panel, not in SQL. Here a character kill creates an automatic backup first, and every admin action can go to webhook logs.

Rarx Multicharacter

Rarx Multicharacter covers everything from the moment a player connects until they are in the world: a loading screen with video, image or music, a branded main menu, the character selector with configurable info cards, a spawn selector and a starter vehicle picker that sends the car to the garage you choose. The framework and appearance system are detected at startup.

Key features

  • One resource, whole flow. Loading screen, main menu, character selection, spawn and starter vehicle in a single resource.
  • Spawn where it makes sense. Last location, default spawn points, apartments or housing, chosen from a spawn selector.
  • Admin panel. Grant slots, disable or enable characters and run character kills with automatic backups.
  • Auto-detected setup. Framework and appearance system are detected at startup, with no framework setting to change.

Planning

Planning the switch to a new multicharacter

Test the framework step on a copy of your server first. Qbox needs external characters enabled in qbx_core, and ESX Legacy needs two es_extended changes plus the removal of esx_multicharacter, esx_skin and skinchanger. Import the general SQL file and the one for your framework; all tables use IF NOT EXISTS.

Decide your slot policy before launch: how many slots are shown, how many are unlocked by default and who can grant more. Fill in your rules, controls and links in the main menu, and remember the loading screen reads its own config file because it runs before Lua scripts load.

Setup

How to install a FiveM multicharacter script

A summary of the setup. The documentation covers each framework step, the loading screen config and every admin command.

Full documentation
  1. 01

    Download and import the database

Extract rarx_multicharacter and the included rarx_lib, then run the general SQL file and the one for your framework.

  2. 02

    Start it in order

oxmysql, ox_lib and rarx_lib first, then your framework and appearance resource, then rarx_multicharacter.

  3. 03

    Apply the framework step

On Qbox enable external characters in qbx_core. On ESX apply the two es_extended changes from the documentation and remove the resources it replaces.

  4. 04

    Configure and restart

Edit config.lua, and the loading screen config file for the logo and media, then do a full server restart.

The loading screen runs before Lua scripts load, which is why it has its own config file: set the same logo in both. Full documentation: Rarx Multicharacter

Multicharacter script FAQ

Which frameworks does Rarx Multicharacter support?
Qbox, QBCore and ESX. The framework is detected automatically at startup in the order qbx_core, qb-core, es_extended.
Which appearance resources work with it?
Rarx Clothing (recommended), illenium-appearance, fivem-appearance, bl_appearance, origen_clothing and qb-clothing. One of them is required.
Does it work on ESX Legacy?
Yes, with two small es_extended changes described in the documentation. esx_multicharacter, esx_skin and skinchanger must be removed.
Can players spawn in their apartment?
Yes, through rarx_apartments, qb-apartments, 0r_motels or origen_housing. qb-apartments and rarx_apartments cannot be used together.
Can I keep my own loading screen?
Yes. Disable the built-in loading screen in the config and comment out its lines in fxmanifest.lua.
Who can open the admin panel?
Anyone matching the ACE permission or listed in the admin identifiers. On ESX, use the identifier list or an ACE you actually grant.
What happens when a character is killed by staff?
The admin panel creates an automatic backup of the character before removing it, and the action can be sent to a webhook log.
